What is a ‘No Pitch’ Intro and Why Must it Replace What Most Networkers Now Do?
A pitch is an advertisement. At a networking function, no one wants to be ‘advertised to.’ Why? Because it can feel ‘forced,’ intrusive and I can guarantee if you are the fourth person pitching someone, they are thinking about anything except what you are saying….
–‘I need another drink.’
–‘I wonder what’s on TV tonight.’
–‘Is my face showing how bored I am?’
To create a better and more productive networking experience, you need to shift your focus from talking ‘at’ people to talking ‘with’ them. You need to practice being engaging so that people see you are interested in creating a connection, a possible alliance…and not simply ‘pitching your wares’ and getting a business card in their hand. After all, do you want to be remembered or do you want those you give your cards to later wonder, ‘who was this?’ Those who ‘pitch’ are rarely remembered. Those who ‘engage’ are almost always remembered.
Tonight, we invite our Connecting to Greatness community to practice their ‘No Pitch’ intros. Those who would like to practice a ‘no pitch’ intro are welcome to take the stage for 45 seconds and create a real and ‘memorable’ connection with fellow CTG attendees.
How to Prepare Your ‘No Pitch’ Intro:
Engage – Start with a question to your fellow attendees
Create Memorability – A tagline or something fun/funny about your profession
Focus on the benefits and not the features – Potential customers and clients will be primarily concerned with how you can make their life easier, more joyful, save them money or solve a problem.

6:00 to 6:45 – Informal Networking
6:45 to 7:30 – No Pitch Intros
